- What is the Blessed Oil of Manduria?
The Blessed Oil is a supernatural gift, first exuded on 6 July 1994 from a statue of Our Lady of Fatima which had been given to Debora as a gift. From the Revealed Wisdom of the Living God, we learn that on that occasion the oil gave off an un intense perfume. Since that date there have been more than 3,000 tears.
The Blessed Oil is not a sacramental but a gift from Heaven, so it is not to be confused with the oil used in the liturgy of Holy Baptism, Confirmation, the Anointing of the sick, and in Priestly Ordination. Therefor these Sacraments, the Holy Oils, are consecrated by the Bishop on Holy Thursday.
- At the time of the first lacrimation, the oil was analysed in the laboratory. What was the exciting result?
For many years and therefore not only at the beginning, the oil was continuously analysed.
A very surprising thing was that it turned out to be extra virgin oil without any contamination, we are talking about one 0.02, therefore a very pure oil and free of microbial load due to the fact that has not been manipulated at all.
The oil gushing from the eyes of the statue, which was immediately collected, resulted to be microbiologically pure as coming directly from a hot source because all the glass slides were fogging up as the oil spilled out.
In this we like to think of Our Lady’s Heart, a really big heart which gives us this essence often and willingly mixed up with so many perfumes.
Actually, it happened several times that in the laboratory analyses, the oil was also soaked in various fragrances that from time to time, smelled of flowers, roses, oranges, violets. All the times the oil had an intense and peculiar smell and even in contact with the agents for laboratory analysis, this particular scent did not disappear.
- Why oil in particular?
The oil is a very present element within Holy Scripture. Just think of the prophet Samuel pouring oil on young David’s head as well as Moses consecrating his brother Aaron as a priest. In Mark’s Gospel one speaks of Apostles sent by Jesus to evangelise and anoint the sick with oil to heal them.
Jesus Himself speaks of Oil in the parable of the ten Virgins and the Good Samaritan and furthermore the very name of Jesus means ”anointed with oil”, the “Anointed One”.
Therefore, through the oil call, Our Lady wants to reminds us that we belong to God, we are children of the Light as we are baptised and She invited us to rediscover our prophetic, royal and priestly mission.
Thus, the blessed Oil is a symbol of:
- sincere and constant consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Through the anointing She wants to urge us to entrust ourselves to Her; it will be She Herself, together with Her Son Jesus who will transform our lives in harmony with God’s plan for us.
- Fortitude and defence in the struggle of life, we know how close the ancient adversary is to drawing us to himself through complacency and with how much wild anger he fights every day to make us lose our souls. But he must reckon with the Queen of Heaven who will crush his head with Her heel.
- Purification, and physical as well as spiritual healing. Just as the Church uses Oil with The Anointing of the sick, so Mary, Mother of the Church invites everyone to let Her touch us (through the anointing with the Oil) and let Her heal our hearts, but without haste, nor fear or demands, but in Her way, and with Her love.
- But how is the Blessed Oil used?
To perform the act of the anointing, the Virgin of the Eucharist left us a prayer to be recited during the anointing itself:
Here is the prayer:
Mary,
Mother of the Blessed Oil
Most Holy Virgin of the Oil,
touch us, love us and heal us in the heart
in Thy way and with Thy love
By dipping your finger on a cotton ball soaked in the Blessed Oil, one makes five signs of the cross: one on the forehead, one on the lips, one on the chest (at the root of the neck) and one on the palms of your hands. In this way we entrust our thoughts, actions and everything that stirs our hearts to our Heavenly Mother, our Intermediary with Jesus.
By now this anointing, because of the many graces of conversion, reconciliation and healing that result from it, has become very widespread in the world, the Holy Virgin grants us to multiply the Blessed Oil by pouring 9 drops of Blessed Oil (taken from the small bottles sent by the young people of the apostolate) into one litre of extra virgin olive oil.
…I ask you to” consecrate “the oil, by adding 9 drops to one litre of Blessed Oil…” (23.7.1994)
In this way everyone can become an “instrument” of Our Mom of Heaven in distributing this precious gift to all.
- Many people have been spreading the oil to many souls. We know that in Manduria the Virgin Mary asked for 9 drops of Blessed Oil to be added to a, litre of extra virgin olive oil. Why exactly 9 drops in 1 litre?
The litre represents our humanity while the 9 drops represent the number of life, the number in which God realises His salvific plan (think of 9 months of gestation required for the birth of a creature).
So, the 9, God’s salvific plan, in our unit becomes 10 which is the perfection of the whole creation.
Certainly, for those who want to enter into the truest knowledge of these things, they can also understand that God is not hidden.
Even in Holy Scripture we always find numbers in which God realises particular promises, particular victories, particular passages.
So, the 9 drops in a litre represent our assonance of consecration and the reception of what God asks in our smallness in that unit.
- To make another litre of oil can I take 9 drops from the litre of oil made previously?
Our Lady instructed to use 9 drops from the oil that the apostolate spreads and from there make a litre. Obviously, it is clear that in this litre, the drops are then slowly fragmented and dispersed should one proceed to “multiply” the oil by taking the 9 drops from the litre. So, it would be better to take the 9 drops from the bottle so as not to lose the spiritual sense of the oil. It is as if you put cologne inside a large container. It is clear that this water will eventually run out of scent. It is important that we follow what Our Lady says: so, 9 drops to make a litre of oil, then take the 9 drops from the bottle again to make the oil again.
- Can I use the oil as food without desecrating its preciousness?
Yes, undoubtedly if we are aware of what we are using i.e., especially for the purification of our body.
And why not, we can also eat it preferably with raw food without cooking it because we must always remember to make better use of these gifts.
- Does the bottle of oil sent by the young people in the apostolate contain the 9 drops?
Yes, it does. The little bottle contains the 9 drops, of these 9 drops, a part is the harvest from the “Celestial Verdure” trees and therefore also from the apparition tree, to which a fragment of effused tears is then added. Lately, there are not as many effusions as in the past, so it is logical to think that one would act in this way given the demand made by the whole world.
In conclusion, when Our Lady is weeping, a drop is taken and mixed with oil that is collected from the olives pressing of “Celestial Verdure”.
- After anointing, some people feel an unspeakable peace! Why? Can I anoint myself for a person who is distant, sick or unwilling?
Feeling a sense of peace after the anointing is certainly a gift that God gives. Not everyone feels this, some even react very badly precisely because of the strong, sacred, spiritual nature that we attach to the oil as it comes from the tears gushing forth from the eyes of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We are not talking about a random relic but a prodigy and, therefore being such the typical characteristics of the things of
God apply…. Hence first and foremost the peace” in primis” it brings like all things that God gives and bestows on our hearts.
Often not everyone agrees to be anointed, many are far away or find themselves, as is unfortunately the case today, in hospital. When we cannot get the oil to these souls then it is possible to anoint oneself for others. In this case it is said to be an anointing “ad intentionem (with intent).
Of course, it will be the Lord’s Mercy and goodness that will realise what our hearts want to bring to the good Lord. It is certain that every intention is even more important than the act itself that we do, God reads our intentions and what we want to achieve,
This is also true when we do evil works. God looks at our intention, not at the deed itself we have formalised, enacted, or performed.
So great thing is the intention, therefore it is possible to make the anointing for people who are far away and even for people who do not accept the anointing of oil.
- It has come to our attention that placing Manduria oil under an ultraviolet light showed it to be orange in colour compared to any other oil. Why does this happen despite being of the same substance?
This phenomenon is a bit like the water of Lourdes which, when analysed, its crystals have been seen to appear in completely different sizes, even taking on the shape of a cross or something else.
Perhaps the insiders can give a more comprehensive answer to this, but it is certain that there is a strange characteristic in this oil that escapes this orange colour and is the fact the oil looks like “living” oil, and not like the classic product which is cold, but as if it had been squeezed and come out of something hot.
We like to imagine that this oil flows out from Our Lady’s eyes, which are warm eyes full of love for us and from which the warmth of Her love and all that is needed to consecrate ourselves come ou.t
- Are there any testimonies about the oil used during exorcisms? Some people burn and get annoyed during anointing, Why?
For 30 years now, Our Lady has been appearing by giving us this gift not only as a healing but also as a deliverance. She Herself has reminded us several times that it is a healing not only from light things but also from important ones such as diabolic possessions, but also so-called obsessions i.e., the persistent memory in which the devil tries to haunt our mind, which is then devastated by a series of thoughts and then performs actions that are not good.
From obsession to possession, we know from people who have received anointing that they reacted in a bad way. In some cases, they were even seen reacting violently by shouting and throwing the priest away from them, or throwing objects at the priest himself.
From the recordings of some exorcisms (still preserved in the premises of the Work) we learn that, during an exorcism performed by Father Gabriele Antonazzi, the devil revealed that he knew of a bottle of blessed oil that was in the pocket of the priest’s cassock, the priest asked the devil how he knew what he had in his pocket and how he knew it was the Oil. At that moment, the priest became aware that he was faced with something very special, unusual. At first, the priest did not support these anointings, but the moment the devil revealed to him that he had such a great gift, he not only intrigued him, but then he made of this priest, a great servant of the anointing i.e., one who, understanding the important facts and by what the devil repeated during exorcisms, the priest immediately believed the whole apparition.
As for the fact of some souls feeling burning during the anointing, in this case it is advisable to resort to many blessings of the priest because the anointing reveals the creature’s physical and spiritual state but, in some cases, it is also revealing of the fact that some people are reached by presences that are not good or even sprinkled with not good things such curses and situations also from past generations. So, in the face of this it would be good to have blessings made and then continue the anointing with the Blessed Oi for a long time, beyond the fact that the Oil is always to be used as an act of consecration.
- The Blessed Oil that the Virgin of the Eucharist has given to Manduria is a very precious gift for the current times and even more for the future. What special significance will it have in the times to come?
What Our Lady accomplishes today through the Blessed Oil, in the manifestations of Her images and in particular from the statue of Our Lady of Fatima which all by now remember and venerate, makes us realise that the message is a gift for the times we are living in.
Certainly, for the future but also for today, what does it mean to use Our Lady’s Oil according to the instructions She gives us?
First of all, implementing the Consecration that She had asked for in Fatima through the angel, and then the Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and today also to His Eucharistic Heart.
Jesus is one Person. We are often used to seeing only Jesus with His Sacred Heart in images, but today Our Lady wants us to turn our gaze to the person of Jesus in the Eucharist.
The times to come will be children of today’s ones and those who consecrate themselves will be strong and through the consecration they will make Our Lady’s promises strong as well. Then, through their little “fiat” as soul-hosts, they will bring about, as soon as possible, the triumph already promised in Fatima.
Hence the oil is an instrument of consecration, of promise, of fulfilment according to what Our Lady is telling us in Her latest messages.
“…Oil, Holy Oil, the essence that My Mother continues to prepare to give to the suffering, today more than in the past when She Herself, with Her purest hands, worked to knead the soothing ointment to be given to My poor disciples that would lift the wounds and man himself! I Myself commanded them to work by anointing, so that the people would not dare to attack them in their poor identity as fishermen but, aiming at the element of oil, would have more ease and docility to believe. No, it was the Oil that healed and neither is it today! God was and is the Physician who offers the solution! The O il was the instrument and will still be the instrument for you, My daughter and disciple. So, go and teach My Priests to anoint and experience the beauty of belonging to God through Holy Anointing which gives strength to the Threefold Mission of every man: the royal, ordinary priestly and ministerial, the prophetic mission…” (22.06.1998)
